Kate Elliott

Kate is a Consultant for Starke and Co working at our Horsham Office. Kate’s clients however are based nationwide and she often represents clients that live in London and in the Home Counties.

She is excellent in negotiations, and able to resolve matters speedily and cost-effectively – Chambers 2017


Having worked at two top tier family law firms for a decade Kate has built up considerable experience working across the whole spectrum of family law work.

Kate regularly advises clients in relation to complex financial disputes arising on the breakdown of both marriage and cohabitation and has acted on several cases involving trusts and family businesses.

Kate is also experienced in dealing with international cases with multi-jurisdictional issues and she has acted for a number of expats.

In addition Kate advises on all aspects of private children law matters including disputes about parental arrangements, internal and external relocation and financial claims.

Kate also advises in relation to prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements and asset protection.


Kate joined Starke and Co in January 2017 as a Consultant.

Prior to this Kate trained at the West End law firm, Davenport Lyons where she gained experience in family law, litigation, property and tax.

On qualification in September 2006 Kate joined the top tier London family practice, Hughes Fowler Carruthers where she worked on a number of high profile reported divorce and finance cases.

Kate then worked for the top tier specialist family law firm Rayden Solicitors from 2010 to 2017 and during her time there she worked on a number of complex divorce, finance and children matters.

Kate has also written articles for the Family Law Journal.

Kate’s Approach

Whether your case is big or small Kate believes in taking a commercial approach to help her clients cut through the issues to enable them to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

Clients have confidence in Kate’s detailed approach, her supportive nature and her determination to achieve the best result for them.

Kate regularly negotiates a successful resolution for her clients without recourse to the Court but if that is not possible to achieve she will take a robust approach on her client’s behalf when necessary.

Kate is a member of Resolution and she was a member of Young Resolution London Committee for two years.

Kate is active in the local business community and is on the Cranleigh Chamber of Commerce Committee and the Cranleigh Big Business Awards Sub Committee.


Outside of work Kate enjoys spending time with her family, walking her three dogs, horse riding and skiing.
